The First day of School} Perth Family Photographer

Posted on February 2, 2010

Here we are celebrating Christmas & New Year’s, hanging out at the Pool and doing all sort’s of summery things . . . . . and suddenly 2010 has started and the new school year has begun :)   It’s like the horse races – you need to be looking left and right so as to not miss anything.  I doubt we’ll come first, but it would be nice to finish intact :)   I try (and I use that word very loosely) to photograph the girls on their first day of school, so this year I’ve done it a little differently.

She’s such a laugh, this child.  All gangly, leggy and individual.

Then you’ve got this little one – all full of laughs and play, then goes to Pre-Primary and hides behind my skirts. . . . . very very shy – you wouldn’t pick it, would you?

The Power of Black & White} Perth Wedding Photographer

I was just finishing up this gorgeous wedding, and wanted to share some of the Black & White’s that I found so gorgeous.

Ben + Rhiannon Part 1} Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on January 24, 2010

Well, by now Ben & Rhiannon have flown back to the UK, but what a wonderful day their wedding day was!  Ben’s entire family had flown out for the big day from the freezing temperatures of the UK, for our lovely balmy 38 degree’s.  Rhiannon’s family, I think, were probably a little more used to  – but gosh and gee it was a very very warm day to get married!  While Ben got ready with his family and groomsmen at a house in Mt Pleasent, Rhiannon stayed at the Novotel Langley Plaza which was a hop and a skip away from St. Georges Cathedral in the City.  So much of the wedding was significant. .. . . .  Rhiannon’s dress was her mothers, minus the sleeves.  The church was where her mother and her grandmother got married.  The decoration on the cake was also of two generations.  The ceremony was beautiful and meaningful and I loved it.  The priest talked about all the significant things that happen at a wedding, and it was just such a lovely service.  Once we were outside again, the relative coolness of the inside was traded in for the afternoon searing heat.  After an afternoon of different locations we finally finished at their reception at the Riverbank Estate for the Cocktail Party.  Ben & Rhiannon decided to surprise all of their guest with a bridal waltz that involved rollerblades.  I asked him why the rollerblades, and he simply replied “I can’t dance” . . . . (I thought he danced pretty well on the rollerblades :) )

I’ve had to put this into two posts because I didn’t think that one would justify all the great moments of this wedding (and I ran out of time today! :) )

So Ben & Rhiannon, it’s been an 18 month long journey  . . . the wedding was beautiful, special, hot and full of fun and love – thank you for inviting me to share it with you.

Krystal

Rhiannon has this megawatt smile!

A quiet moment

Hug from Dad

Sharing that last private moment with her mum.

I put this in because of the hat . . . . I love the hat :)

I love this one, they have literally walked out the door of the church after they’ve gotten married.

Highschool Sweethearts } Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on January 24, 2010

Allison & Shane met when they were going to high school and have been dating ever since.  Next month I get to photograph their wedding at ‘The Cut’ Golf Course in Mandurah and I can’t wait.  They are both totally gorgeous and very very much in love.  They also get to break my record of being my youngest couple (I am now feeling offically very very old :) ), but it is so lovely to see two people who are so seriously in love and yet so young.  There has been talk about Shane losing the dreadies, but seriously dude they look so cool on you, I love them!

Can’t wait to see you again in Feb!

Rhiannon + Ben} Before the Wedding } Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on January 18, 2010

I have been writing to Rhiannon in regards to her wedding for the past 18 months now and this was the first time I got to meet them, as they have been planning it from the UK!   We had first planned our Pre-Wedding shoot several days before, but put it off in hopes that the wind would drop slightly .  . . but alas it didnt, and it continued to blow a gale at Coogee Beach.  Here is a sneak peak of the Pre-Wedding Shoot – I know, Rhiannon that you are dying to see your Wedding Sneak Peak, but I couldn’t post those without posting these first!

Tutus & Drumstixs } Perth Family Photographer

Posted on January 5, 2010

When the mum of this gorgeous family asked me to photograph her family, she mentioned that she had an old farmhouse in Toodyay and wouldn’t it be nice to photograph there?  I leapt at the chance to do something different and fun . . . . little did I know that the day we decided to schedule the shoot it would end up being 45 degrees (45 DEGREES!!).   I actually think I might have passed out if i had gone on any longer :) .  The kids were fantastic – so much fun and up for anything.  The Farmhouse was settled in the 1830’s and was just beautiful and I felt so lucky to photograph there – especially because the Toodyay Fires started while we were there.  Thankfully for this family, their beautiful homestead was safe.  Now for the photographs:

The start of a New Year } Perth Family Photographer

Posted on January 4, 2010

Yesterday, I suddenly decided that I hadn’t done any pictures of my girls in a while – time flies away so quickly you know?  So I quickly go them sorted and took them into my bedroom (theirs is of course a pig sty!).  They loved being the stars of the show.  My oldest is so very photogenic, a natural in front of the camera.  My youngest is a cheeky soul who would rather take the picture than be in it.

Happy New Year to all!  It’s going to be an absolutely fantastic one for me, as I’m about to celebrate a Milestone birthday (I shan’t be giving away what age though :) ).   I feel that this could be a very lucky and happy year for me.  I started my last decade pregnant & vomiting (god do I remember that night!) and I finish at Burswood with the highest heels I could find and a lovely slinky dress; with my absolutely most favourite people at my side.  Right now to the pics!

This picture almost made me cry when I looked at it.  There is no one better out there that could get better out of these two than me, I figure!

It was Barb from Jinky Art who made me look more into the little things, the details – currently I’m seeing two sets of dirty feet – he he he!

Really, I didn’t set any of this up – they did all of this themselves.  Despite the fact that they fight a lot, they do adore each other.

I’m a lucky mother.

Jumping Jelly Beans! } Perth Children Photographer

Posted on December 23, 2009

‘Finding the Magic & Capturing it’ – that’s what I aim to do when I go to a person’s house to photograph their children.  I want to photograph what they love to do.  As for this little boy – well we’ve struck up a bit of a partnership over the years and he’s graciously allowed me to photograph him with very little trouble at all.  I thought that I would do a special post just about him, because I actually went over to photograph his new brother & sister.

As always Max, you’re a STAR!

Kelly & Luke: Wongan Hills } Perth & Western Australia Wedding Photographer

Posted on December 22, 2009

Kelly & Luke booked me for their wedding, I think, almost two years ago and I knew immediately that they were going to be a beautiful couple and the wedding was going to be special, really gorgeous.  When they wrote and told me that Wongan Hills was on the cards for the wedding, I knew that it was going to end up being this fantastic country wedding (which is was).   So how to choose from all the images that I took?  It was H.A.R.D.  I loved so many of them.  So lets start:

_MG_0492Despite Kelly’s military precision schedule – this is where we ended up finding Luke.  Hey it was 38 degrees and the flies were a-buzzing outside :)

_MG_0468

Yeah, he’s relaxed, he’s happy (not dazed and confused at all :) )

_MG_0002So Kelly asked me how Luke’s looking  – what could I say but ‘damn hot & damn spunky’.

_MG_0025 . . . and so were his boys!

_MG_0532Delicate, wistful, sparkly . . . stunning

_MG_0543I loved that she was getting ready in her mum’s room and it was such a retro house :)

_MG_0552OMG the eyes, the skin – she is just a dream isn’t she?

_MG_0601

_MG_0230They got married under this gorgeous tree at the front of the Civic Center – the setting was lovely.

_MG_0911Kelly was so sweetly anxious until the rings were exchanged – and then all nerves were thrown out and the laughter began.  I love this one, they look like they are congratulating themselves for pulling it off!

_MG_0286-copyWho get confettin thrown at their wedding anymore – these two did – glittery confetti.

_MG_1088_MG_0540-1_MG_1235I think they possibly look better on you than on Luke!

_MG_1214_MG_1410

We found a gorgeous Firebreak on the road to another (unpronouncable town name) town and stopped there.  The flies, as you can imagine were woeful.  On the above pictures I have even had to remove flies SHADOWS!

_MG_1415_MG_1062-1

Thank you to Nils for helping on such a very hot wedding day.  You were wonderful.

Kelly & Luke, may you be very very happy – you were both gorgeously romantic on your wedding day – we had a ball.

Krystal
