8 Great Reasons to head to the Beach for a Winter Shoot } Perth Family Photographer

Posted on August 15, 2010

1.  There’s no one there . . . you’ve got the beach to yourself and you can even create your own footsteps on pristine sand

2.  Wind . . . there isn’t any :)

3.  Flies . . . the bane of my summer life – but they don’t visit beaches during the winter

4.  Beautiful skies

5. Golden light

6. Freezing water – it makes for great images

7.  Going down to the beach reminds you of why you love living near one

8.  I leave the last one up to you . . . . . . . . . .

A new life celebrated} Perth Family & Event Photographer

Posted on August 15, 2010

Christening’s is such a special event  for family and this one paticularliy lovely because this couple had flown out from Sydney to share their little girl’s christening with the rest of the family.  This was such a different event to the last Christening I got to photograph – much quieter and yet as joyous.

Her outfit was (I think) at least 100 years old.  The lace was so fine and thin.

There I was taking the images of her being annointing and suddenly she turns her head an looks at me.

Is she thinking about how much she wants to cry?  (She held it together the entire ceremony)

Or is she thinking about life in general . . . . . food, milk, religion?

One day she might look at this image and wonder herself :)

Sisters }Perth Family Photographer

It was time to try and update my children’s photo’s a few months ago . . . I get so caught up in photographing weddings and I never seem to have the time to photograph the two little personalities at my house!  Why is it that photographing your own children can be so very hard?  They get bored quickly, don’t listen and want to go and play!

There was a time when this little girl would only frown at me when I picked up the camera :)

Travels & Sobering thoughts } Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on August 15, 2010

Recently I stayed in Geraldton for a the simply gorgeous wedding of Jessica & Rob and while I was there, I did a little bit of sightseeing of Geraldton.  What I noticed immediately and just had to have a look was the Sydney Memorial because it just stood out and you can see it from so many different places in Geraldton.  The story of HMAS Sydney is such a terrible and sad WW2 story and touched so many people – especially when they found out it a couple of years ago off the coast of Geraldton.  Whilst in Canberra I was able to lay a poppy down for a dear friend’s relative who was on the Sydney at the time and photograph it – I felt that I must then follow the story and photograph the War Memorial in Geraldton.

This structure is so tall and solitary.  It is to represent the front of the HMAS Sydney.

Katie & Paul } Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on August 15, 2010

A little while ago, a dear friend of mine Nils from Fig Tree Photography asked me to help with a wedding that she was photographing and what a gorgeous day we had.  Katie and Paul are a delightful couple who obviously had so much in common with each other and there was so much love there.  Her parents came from my part of the world (Africa) and they were a lovely down-to-earth family.  The church was in Fremantle and it was the first time that I had gotten to have a look inside . . . very impressive and very yellow :)   Now for some images:

The wedding had a very nautical theme to it – they had met on the Leuwin and sailed for a while together.

The house that Katie got ready in was very romantic and baroque in decor . . just gorgeous.

Just a few more images to show what the day was like . . . . just lovely.

As usual it was lovely working with you Nils!

The Handsome Mr. M.

18 months ago, I photographed the beautiful wedding of Kristy & Hilton. It was such a gorgeous wedding full of love and happiness and was a beautiful day.

Let me take you back for a moment:

So I got to revisit this beautiful couple but this time with a new addition – Baby M!

What a gorgeous delightful boy he was, but he was also at that typical age of teething big time (poor darling).

Kristy & Hilton – it was lovely seeing your new beautiful baby. Here is the link to your Gallery.

The Secret Recipe to a Beautiful Wedding } Perth Wedding Photographer

Posted on May 21, 2010

Firstly, a handsome groom:

With a few accessories thrown in, like this one:

And don’t forget his equally stylish and devilishly handsome sidekicks who will insure that he gets to the alter in time:

Then you add the beautiful bride, gorgeous, fluttery, nervous and happy

Add some pretty Bridesmaids to keep her laughing and her dress safe.

Then together this beautiful Bride and handsome Groom come together in a beautiful place to say their vows and share their love:

And to smile and cry their joy at finally coming together

. . . . and then to kiss – the most important part of all

(awww Michelle . . . . you were so happy!)

The Final Part to this recipe must include:

Love

Laughter

. . . and sweeping romantic moments :)

and then back to laughter . . . . as much laughter as you can bring on

Accompanied by seriously good music . . . these guys were fantastic:  Platinum DJ’s

In the Final moments of you perfect Wedding Day, the most important secret ingredient of all is to find yourself the most romantic song and dance with the man/woman you have just chosen to be your lifelong partner and shuffle along – forgetting the world exists and never forget your wedding day.

Then when that’s finished . . . . . . go back and boogey again until the sun comes up!

Michelle & Justin – congrats for your beautiful day, I hope your Honeymoon was wonderful!  Your family were a blast, your wedding was fantastic!

A beautiful Autumn afternoon } Perth Family Photographer

Posted on May 14, 2010

I had so much fun at this session!  Kim, the lovely mother of this family suggested this gorgeous location and I’m so glad she did – it was magical.

There were so many favourites from this session that I posted a whole bunch just to give you an idea of how different it was.  Both of her children were so different and obviously very talented.  I hope you enjoy the sneak peek – the gallery is shortly!
