The start of a New Year } Perth Family Photographer

Posted on January 4, 2010

Yesterday, I suddenly decided that I hadn’t done any pictures of my girls in a while – time flies away so quickly you know?  So I quickly go them sorted and took them into my bedroom (theirs is of course a pig sty!).  They loved being the stars of the show.  My oldest is so very photogenic, a natural in front of the camera.  My youngest is a cheeky soul who would rather take the picture than be in it.

Happy New Year to all!  It’s going to be an absolutely fantastic one for me, as I’m about to celebrate a Milestone birthday (I shan’t be giving away what age though :) ).   I feel that this could be a very lucky and happy year for me.  I started my last decade pregnant & vomiting (god do I remember that night!) and I finish at Burswood with the highest heels I could find and a lovely slinky dress; with my absolutely most favourite people at my side.  Right now to the pics!

This picture almost made me cry when I looked at it.  There is no one better out there that could get better out of these two than me, I figure!

It was Barb from Jinky Art who made me look more into the little things, the details – currently I’m seeing two sets of dirty feet – he he he!

Really, I didn’t set any of this up – they did all of this themselves.  Despite the fact that they fight a lot, they do adore each other.

I’m a lucky mother.

A Canberra Visit } Perth Photographer

Posted on November 4, 2009

I went to Canberra to attend a Jinky Art Workshop Retreat, and on Day 1 I was able to spend the entire day roaming around the Australian War Memorial.  Many people have asked why I would want to waste a day exploring a museum about war and I couldn’t think of doing anything better.  The War Memorial is one of the most beautiful Museums I have been to (and I have been to many in my day :) ).  The Gardens were serene, quiet and beautiful.  There were memorials everywhere in honour of so many men & women who fought for something that they did or didn’t believe was right – but did it anyway.  My personal connection to all of this is a Grandfather who fought alongside the Australian’s in the South Pacific, a father who remained in the Military Services for 20 years and an Uncle who fought in the Vietnam War.  I was also moved to tears by the sad accounts of the women who were caught up in Singapore during the Second World War.  How can people be so cruel to their fellow human being?

I apologise to all who might think that this is a wedding and children’s photography blog, because really it’s a photographic journey of my life. . . . . now for some pictures :)

Can_0109Who hasn’t heard of Lone Pine?  This tree was grown from a seed that a solider from Gallipoli sent to his mother.  She donated it to the Australian War Museum.

GParents001This was my Grandfather.  He was in the American Army Airforce and was posted to the South Pacific during WWII.  He worked directly under Douglas MacAruthur and flew Air Recon missions over enemy terratory.  He never spoke much about the war except of being shot down several times, hating his boss, getting pnuemonia and meeting my grandmother – a Queenslander.

Blue Skies & Wheat Fields} Perth Location Photographer

Posted on October 20, 2009

The family decided to try out the new car and go location hunting out in Wongan Hills, where I will photographing the very lovely Kelly & her gorgeous fiance Luke’s Wedding.  The drive out there was incredibly scenic – the wheat is in full swing and the sky was the bluest blue.  This Wedding season I have three country weddings and I am so looking forward to them!

Finally a beautiful holiday!

Posted on October 8, 2009

Our family haven’t been on a proper holiday in four years (really who does that?), so we decided that it was very important to get away before the new wedding season began.  The girls had never been on a plane before and it had been years since we had gone to Bali – so that became our destination.  Boy has it changed since the last time – some of it for the better and some for the worst.  The traffic was nightmarish, but the shopping was pretty good.  The biggest thing that happened to us, while we were there was the Bali Earthquake, in which we were shaken around on our beds (it was 7 a.m. in the morning) and then waited upstairs for a little while in case of a Tsunami.  The gorgeous Villa’s we stayed in were so private that we didn’t see the extended family running naked out to the garden (thankfully :) )

The Villa we stayed in was situated in Seminyak and it was called ‘Villa Pelangi‘ and it was beyond our wildest expectations.  We knew that we would have a cooked breakfast of what ever we liked every morning, but we didn’t realise that they cleaned, dried and ironed our clothes everyday!  The Chef for the evenings was fantastic and versatile (and seriously cheap).  The grounds covered 3000 sqm and it also had this amazing 20 meter pool.

So all in all – fantastic holiday, and we are already thinking of doing it again!

P.S.:  I was banned from taking my professional camera’s and therefore had to shoot with a P&S – I used my new Canon G10 which was lovely.

In the grip of winter} Myself

Posted on July 28, 2009

Well, we’ve just spent two days in hospital with my youngest – asthma rearing it’s ugly head again.  It’s a hard thing to watch your little girls struggling to breathe, and thank goodness that I live in a [sometimes] 1st world country where the care for children can be excellent.  Anyway, she’s hanging out in my bed watching her Care Bear’s movie for the upteenth time!  I would like to thank all the Nurses, Doctors, Auxillary staff & all support staff at Swan Districts Hospital for their wonderful & competent care.

Following Footsteps} Perth Family Photographer

Posted on July 20, 2009

So I find out today that my oldest daughter no longer wants to be a photographer, but now wants to be a fashion designer . . and my youngest wants to ‘cut hair’.   The Project Runway programs are having their effect!  I think my youngest wants to ‘cut hair’ because she wants her hair short :)   Alex modelled for me yesterday at a shoot – gorgeous as usual!

I have four posts to make, so sit down – relax, take a sip of the freshly made coffee and enjoy the visual ride you’re about to go on – there is a mix of delicious babies, gorgeous girls, beautiful brides, handsome grooms and maybe a little peak of one of my little girls.
